According to RU I broke 100k in October 2013 and kill screened 26 august 2014 so about 10 months with the first few playing sporadically.

Realistically I think most people should be able to do it in less than 6 months and certainly less than a year ( about a decade for <Allen> )

Of course depends how much time you invest and also if you actively learn off others who have done it before. Wouldn't recommend going it alone if you're wanting to get there as quickly as possible.

I thought of something.  Why are we keeping Mitchell's score on the board?  Now some might say, well because Twin Galaxies has it as official.
Here's the thing though.  My Donkey Kong 3 score is still official for dip switch 3 hard settings, and yet my score was removed.
So, what I am saying is this action would not be unprecedented.  We have already varied from TG.  So that's why I think the DK Forum shouldn't be held to TG standards.  I mean even the keeper of the DK list has disputed this score.

I'm at 35 years and counting.

Based on my capabilities, I reckon it is reasonable that I might get a kill screen some time after the sun burns itself out.

It's my understanding that Jeff Willms went from zero to KS in one month. He put in a lot of time during that month, but as far as I know, that's the quickest reported progress.

I have the Vector Labs switcher setup in both my DK machines. Its pretty spendy but you can have 4 boardsets in one machine like I do in Pauline. If all you want is two game boards Mark Speaths dk 2-1 switcher is a lot less money and his products are always high quality and well engineered.
Here is a link to the Spaeth one..

So I'm thinking about just buying a DK jr board and getting a switcher with 2 adapters. Does anyone have that? Is $225 sound about right? ( that's not with the board)

No doubt, it's tough.. I've only made it to floor 2 twice.. the problem was the power supply . So all in all I got a good deal, and it's a jamma.. just ordered a 19-1 horizontal board with  cool Williams and Nintendo games. I couldn't be happier... it will need a cap kit down the road though..

I've got a KFM problem.  I've been playing it for over 30 years and have only gotten to level three once.

Admittedly, that's more of a 'me' problem.
